Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pistachios
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Rub the flour, salt and butter together with your fingers to make a coarse mixture that resembles breadcrumbs. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well until you have a soft and elastic dough. Cover and set aside to rise in a warm place until double in size (not in an oven, as it may overheat).

Knead the dough on a surface dusted with flour for 3-5 minutes. Set aside to rise for a ½ hour. Once it has risen again, you can shape the dough into two long or round loaves with the seam facing down. Line a baking sheet with greaseproof paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 25 minutes until golden brown.
