Aegina Fistiki Fest
Fistiki Fest
The Fistiki Fest has become the major event of the summer. As it has every year since 2009, it begins in July with pre-festival events and peaks in mid-September with a massive three-day celebration. Art exhibitions, theatrical and musical events, children’s activities and gastronomic happenings take place alongside the commercial booths that showcase the Aegina pistachio.
A variety of events
A large number of special events are held throughout the year in Aegina: the revival of customs and traditions such as “Leidinos” staged by the Cultural Association of Kypseli, “Klidonas” by the Aegina Women’s Association in June, the “Easter Dance” put on by the “I. Kapodistrias” Educational Association of Aegina, and the Mesagros and Aegina carnivals are just a few. Other celebrations are held on saints’ name days, such as for Aghia Marina on 16-17 July, at the Chryssoleontissa monastery for the Assumption on 15 August and Aghios Sozontas in Perdika on 6-7 September.
A plethora of activities and events is also being planned for this summer in Aegina. The Aegina Theatre Festival, the International Music Festival of Aegina, Greek Cinema Nights, jet ski races and beach parties in Aghia Marina are just a few of the happenings in store for an exciting summer.
